Black Friday sales low

Here in this area it really is not surprising that the amount of shoppers was not as large as retailers hoped for. There really was a lack of items that were "such great deals" that people came out in droves. As usual it was the few places that offered one or two really inexpensive laptops or other electronic items as a teaser that may have generated some interest but as this article linked in the title points out:
Shoppers headed to stores on Friday lured by promises of money-saving deals, but the annual kick-off to holiday sales appeared weaker this year and worries of a deep recession kept purchases down.

Which means even stores that offered a great number of bargains, people still were thinking more of the economy and the threat of more of an economic downturn than they were about shopping beyond their reduced budgets.
