BitTorrent to provide more movies and tv shows...

Good News for those of you who use BitTorrent Inc.:

LOS ANGELES (AP) - BitTorrent Inc., developer of a popular online file-sharing tool, said Tuesday it has reached licensing deals that will boost the number of movies and TV shows it can offer as part of a video download service launching next year.

The privately held company said it signed agreements with Viacom Inc. (VIAB)'s Paramount Pictures, News Corp. (NWS)'s 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, Palm Pictures and Kadokawa Pictures USA.

The San Francisco-based BitTorrent also inked content deals with cable television networks G4 and Starz Media along with several Viacom-owned networks, including MTV Networks, VH1, SpikeTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and Logo.

On the heels of yesterday's decision by Wal-mart to start offering movie downloads, this is another demonstration of the demand of consumers for instant access to movies and TV shows that they might have missed. The TIVO days could very well be replaced by the ability to download what shows you missed for later viewing right from your pc.
