Cyber attack warning...

At times I wonder why a threat is made public if it's not something that is considered a valid threat but in the "it may happen some day so here it is" news category this from AP News:

WASHINGTON (AP) - The government warned on Thursday of a possible Internet attack on U.S. stock market and banking Web sites from a radical Muslim group, but officials said the threat was unconfirmed and seemed to pose no immediate danger.

The notice was issued to the U.S. cybersecurity industry after officials saw a posting on a "Jihadist Web site" calling for an attack on U.S. Internet-based stock market and banking sites in December, said Homeland Security Department spokesman Russ Knocke.

There is no information corroborating the threat, Knocke said, adding that the alert was issued "as a routine matter and out of an abundance of caution. There is no immediate threat to our homeland at this time."

Realistically if these terrorists had the capability to do this, logic dictates they would have already done so rather than to make threats on a "Jihadist Web site"; but they did manage to get some media about it since the news and of course we as bloggers are discussing it.
