Dogs, Cats and Fleas...
Right now we are having one heck of a time with skin related problems with my daughter's Shi Tzu/terrier mix dog, Quilla, while the weather is cold outside it appears that one or more of the cats must have a flea or two and for some reason they are attracted more to Quilla than the cats. This has created a never ending situation of her scratching and biting herself to the point where I had to make a vet appointment since it appears we have gotten beyond the point where OTC pet medications are going to solve this. I am however going to have to address the Cat issue, which means deciding which flea control medication to go with since it's obvious the flea collars I had did not do the job. I'm suspecting Quilla has an underlying flea allergy problem which I have experienced in the past when my Manchester Terrier, Draco, was alive. All it took for him was one flea bite and it would start the horrible chain of events. We did manage to get that under control, and prior to this, Quilla seemed to be fine. Could there be some other underlying health/skin issue? Possibly, hence the vet issue. Yet in checking the prices for the topicals offered at Vet Depot, they are much more reasonable than what my vet charges, so I am opting to order those thru them. When you have five cats, price does really matter, especially since the topicals which I know do work, do only last for a little over a month.
