Beware of falling ice...

As I read this story about huge slabs of ice falling off of buildings in Toronto, it made me think of what happens locally...Here in town one of our local grocery stores has a design similar to a greenhouse type looking roof and every year when the snow starts to melt they have to block that front part of the sidewalk off since a few years back someone was hit by falling ice. Every time I see this I can't help wonder why this wasn't something that the designers of the building thought of...
