Digital Photo copy machines and identity theft...

A bit of information you might not be aware of when it comes to going to a local place to make copies of private data from AP News:

If the data on the copier's disk aren't protected with encryption or an overwrite mechanism, and if someone with malicious motives gets access to the machine, industry experts say sensitive information from original documents could get into the wrong hands.

Sharp commissioned a consumer survey by telephone with 1005 adults that indicated more than half of Americans did not know copiers carried this data security risk. The good news is that so far there have been no reported cases of identity theft from digital copy machines. Which in away makes me wonder if putting this out there will just give people ideas...
