That elusive link popularity...
It's something discussed often in the marketing aspect of the internet, from both a paid blogging aspect and an advertiser aspect. The concept of link popularity is much more complicated than it appears on the surface. As the web article points out, one link does not necessarily equal the same "score" and to be perfectly honest you have to be an expert or someone who has put a great deal of time into studying this to understand the algorhythms and all of what goes into the concept of page rank. Natural links, which are links that happen as a part of a post to me are preferred because the majority of the time they are shared as an additiional informational resource in a blog post or a web article. It helps create a reason or a desire to visit the link as opposed to being listed on a list of links. Companies like Blogitive help you harness the power of the blogs and natural linking. I do that as a course of practice when blogging on any topic, since one of the first questions most people have if a topic interests them is, "Where can I learn more", creative use of natural links gives that to your readers...
