Trying to find local businesses online...

I've tried without success to use google and other internet search engines to find local businesses. Trying to do a local search can be frustrating, especially when you know that business does exist. A recent example was trying to locate auto salvage yards to find parts for one of my daughter's cars. All kinds of places came up having parts for her car but finding a bumper in Canada really wasn't helpful unless I wanted to pay more in shipping to get it here than the actual bumper cost. An even more recent experience in trying to find a licensed electrcian was equally frustrating. Again, very few came up for this area.
