Disappearing household items...
It seems whenever I need a household item like scissors or box cutters the gremlins that live with us have made off with them. It of course has to be gremlins because when you ask any of the people who live in this house, they act as if they did not even know such an item existed. This creates a scenario where objects not designed for that use are put into play, until those disappear...

When I have such situations in my life and nobody in my family wants to confess we prefer to blame my cat. But of course it won't help to find the necessary thing. :-)
