More than Stomp
The musical production "Stomp" was in my town not long ago, which is why when I saw the words steel drums, that's the mental image that was instantly created. However, drums are used for a huge variety of non-musical uses and quality is critical when it comes to using drums to store any type of liquid. What will work for an impromptu musical performance or even for the more skilled steel drum performers is not at the same level as a drum needed to transport or store other materials.

Google plots online music sales
Not on the cover of the Rolling Stone - but in the Rolling Stone:

Apple may have taken aim at Twitter and Facebook by revealing their new music-based social network Ping at a conference earlier this week, but another competitor may be on the horizon: Google could be launching their own digital music service by year's end, industry sources tell Reuters. Google is considering launching both a music download store and a "song locker service" that would allow users to access their music libraries anywhere, via the internet.

Yes to scrubs...
While the song by TLC "No Scrubs" became really popular in the 1990's, there's a different kind of scrubs that has become popular. They've become popular far beyond nursing scrubs with people who are not even in the medical profession wearing them. Not just for pj's but as they go out in their daily lives, to the store and beyond.
Why is that? I asked one of the teenage scrub wearers that I know, she likes them because they are comfortable and lighter weight than sweat pants. Another reason expressed was the vast amount of colors scrubs come in. If you check out blue sky scrubs you'll see what she states is very true. You'll also learn the story of why Blue Sky Scrubs was formed. So while you say "yes to scrubs" and visit the website to check it out, you can listen to "No Scrubs" by TLC.

Your Pandora account and privacy...
I'm not really worried if someone searching me finds that I'm a fan of Nickleback or Danzig, but some of who focus on privacy on the net may be interested in this Wired article that points out anyone who has access to your e-mail address can find out what your favorite music is on Pandora. There's an update to the article that tells you how to turn it off since Pandora had not responded to Ryan Singel's request for clarification...

Song associations...
When I think of doorbells I automatically think of this song by Anita Ward (no relation) - Ring my bell. Depending on how you want to theorize what the lyrics mean, it does suggest ringing someone's door bell. I know some will argue that point, but that's what I'm sticking with. :-)
At one point in time in the early 80's it was impossible to go out to the bars and not have this song play at least one time, some nights more than once. It was one of those songs that everyone rushed out to the dance floor to boogey to. Yes, boogey, that's what we did.

Poetry and Country Music
I personally admit that there are only a few Country Music Video performances out there that I really enjoy watching. The ones I do enjoy are the older performances, such as those by Patsy Cline, yet one thing I do know about this genre of music is some of the Country Music Lyrics out there could be considered poetry. With or without the music...

Savvy money makers or scalpers?
I've been watching some of the ire of parents when it came to the Hannah Montana tickets, it would be frustrating to try to buy tickets only to discover they had all been snapped up then more than tripled in price. The problem lies with the way the system can be skewed and it's not as if this is something new. If the stars really want it to be done differently, they are the ones who could force this to be changed...

More buzz about new Police CD
First, watching the video will get you in the right mood...
Now if you were not one of the lucky ones who won the double disc compilation Police CD, which was released on June 5th, you are going to want to get yours now. It's said this set also comes with a vintage poster, though mine didn't have the vintage poster which makes me want to buy a second one so I can get the poster. Yes, I want to bring back those memories of high school when you'd have the poster on your bedroom wall.
I've really enjoyed listening to the CD's, it has all of my favorite police songs on it and I've even gotten my daughters to the point where they actually sing along with some of the songs. Roxanne has become a favorite to belt out by the bunch of us.
I was disappointed that both of the concerts where the Police would be playing live near me sold out, but I've heard great reviews from those who were able to attend shows on their current Tour. For me? Once I get the vintage poster, I can pop in the CD's, crank them up loud and pretend that I am at the concert, having my handy bic lighter ready for those encore moments...which when you are listening to the Police? You never want that concert moment to end...

Walking down concert memory lane...
Years ago I was a major fan of Def Leppard, and there are times I still jam to some of their music. It brings back memories for me of those times and I did see them in concert many years ago. If you are still a fan of the band, then you might be interested in knowing that the def leppard tour schedule is online and tickets at some of the events are still available.

Will the Beatles be on iTunes?
Will the Beatles be on iTunes? That's one of the rumors out there given this bit of information as reported by AP News:
Will that be what the big news is? Or will it end up being something else? For that will have to tune into the news tomorrow to discover when they do the big unveiling.
:-)
LONDON (AP) - Record company EMI Group PLC said Sunday it planned to unveil "an exciting new digital offering" with computer company Apple Inc. (AAPL), raising expectations that The Beatles' music catalog is about to be made available through Apple's iTunes online music store.
EMI said it would hold a news conference Monday at its London headquarters with its chief executive, Eric Nicoli, and Apple boss Steve Jobs "and a special live performance."
Will that be what the big news is? Or will it end up being something else? For that will have to tune into the news tomorrow to discover when they do the big unveiling.
