As this Time article points out, it is the unemployed who are caught in the middle of the political power game that's happening in D.C. over the extension of unemployment benefits. You have Republicans saying they support it but not how Democrats want to pay for it (yet not offering a substitute plan of their own that Democrats will support) and you have Democrats blaming Republicans saying that they've tried to make the deal palatable for them.
All the while, thousands have lost their unemployment benefits with the job market not improving anywhere near necessary to create the scenario that is the only real way unemployment will end - more jobs...
