The importance of rain barrels

As more and more of us start paying attention to the environment and how we can take steps to make this planet a better one, there has been an increased amount of attention placed on rain barrels.

The simple reality is more areas of our nation are covered in paving and not covered with grass or a permeable surface that will allow rain to naturally disperse. Using rain water barrels collects the excess rain water and prevents it from pouring into the sewers. It can then be used for rain harvesting purposes for non-consumption uses, like toilet flushing or for watering gardens later after the ground has dried.

Many communities are offering classes on how to use rain barrels and rain gardens to help the environment, some offer them for sale. You can also find rain barrels for sale online and at many in town locations.
